Legends of Milford Sound

the "cool" crew minus us (see explanation below)

Milford!!

the infamous boat
Well to start off Milford there is something that needs to be said first.
Kelly and I booked this trip and kinda forgot to read the itinerary. I mean Europe is different- you know most of the places you are going to see, Rome, Florence, etc. But with NZ nothing sounded familiar. So yeah.... we didn't really read what exactly we were getting ourselves into. Thus you can imagine our surprise when our tour guide announces we will be spending the next night and day on a boat cruise around glaciers and mountains. We look at each other- SERIOUSLY?!
Once we board the glorious boat we are informed, "Guys...we are not the only group on board. There are actual tourists, older couples that will be joining us..sooo- PLEASE be respectful and quiet after 11 pm." OK, we can do that...i mean a little roadblock, but we can do it. Then comes the next announcement- "and by the way the bar closes at 10.".....Excuse us? 10? We are used to being at the bar until at least 2 or 3. come on! So what do we do? The only logical thing of course...begin the drinking at 3 pm..because hey, that gives us only 7 hours??
Kelly, me, Scott (Kelly's "American boy"), Jin-Jou (the Korean girl who cannot speak English but obviously is on the same page as we are), and Genevive (the Australian equivalent of us) sit down at a table in the bar/eating area and get to work. 7 bottles of wine and several tequila shots later we officially won the title of the "drunkest Contiki crew Milford Sound has ever seen"

this is NOT our table- but you can see us in the background (Genevive is the girl with blonde hair)

Scott took a break from our table to have a little drunken swim
Things that also occurred:
1) Scott playing the piano, me singing "My Heart Will Go On" Celine Dion. I felt it was only appropriate to pay tribute to Titanic. And YES I did do the whole I'm King of the World. Are you surprised?
2) Kelly won MVP that night. She had to be carried by our tour guide, Fabio the Italian Stallion, AND Scott back to our cabin below deck. Good work.
To bungee or not to bungee??

WELCOME TO QUEENSTOWN!
This was by far our favorite city. And more importantly on the contender list for one of our favorite cities of the WHOLE trip. Yeah, I said it. Extreme sports capital. I know what you are thinking- Ryann and extreme sports do not mix. And hey, you are right!! I had such a relaxing time here, I can't even explain. But Kelly on the other hand bungee jumped her little self to the point that even SHE became scared of heights. If you wanna see her pics, fbook stalk her.
This town was amazing. Picture Europe hostel craziness only set in the middle of New Zealand. Backpackers galore, bars on every corner, they even had a Mexican restaurant!! But no Kelly would not let me try it :(. Now New Zealand was very interesting for us because at that point Kelly had lost her entire purse, we had both lost our cameras, I lost my debit card- so the only thing we came to NZ with was...my blackberry, ONE credit card between the two of us (with a low limit), and TWO disposable cameras. Somehow we survived, but that involved a lot of calls to Wells Fargo and a lot of credit limit increases. (hence the phone bill fiasco which many of you have witnessed me talk about)

We all met in Christchurch, then began the drive to the Fox Glacier/Fjordland. This was a SMALL town, very quiet- but of course with Contiki we stayed at the hotel with the only bar in town. Open until the last person goes home, interesting bartenders...but BE WARNED #1 STD Capital in NZ bc of all the backpackers coming through. SICK....but we had a lot of fun. and for the record...Kelly and I were the last ones to leave the bar, thus they closed at 3 AM. and YES we left together.
